Hawk: An Epic Roman Adventure Novel
In the tumultuous years of the late Roman Republic, a young soldier named Gaius Marius rises from humble beginnings to become one of the most powerful men in the land. A skilled warrior and a brilliant tactician, Marius leads Rome to victory in a series of bloody wars against its enemies, including the mighty Carthaginians and the Cimbri.
But Marius's success comes at a price. He is a ruthless and ambitious man, and his rise to power is marked by violence and bloodshed. He is also a populist, and his policies to gain the support of the poor and disenfranchised earn him the enmity of the Roman aristocracy.

Excerpt
Marius stood on the walls of Carthage, looking out over the ruins of the once-great city. He had finally triumphed over his enemies, but the victory had come at a terrible cost.
"What is it like to be a god?" a voice asked behind him.
Marius turned to see a young woman standing there. She was beautiful, with long black hair and piercing blue eyes.
"I am no god," Marius said. "I am just a man."
"But you have done what no other man has ever done," the woman said. "You have conquered Carthage."
"Yes," Marius said. "But it was a long and bloody war. Many good men died."
"But you won," the woman said. "And now you are the most powerful man in Rome."
"Yes," Marius said. "But power is a dangerous thing. It can corrupt even the best of men."
The woman smiled. "But you are not like other men," she said. "You are a hawk. You are strong and powerful, and you will never be defeated."
Marius looked at her for a long moment. Then he turned and walked away. He knew that she was right. He was a hawk, and he would never be defeated.
